The Meeting: Thursday, November 20
On the Wednesday before the Race, the sponsor and race director, Caballo Blanco, did not know what to expect; I had no expectations. I knew that there would be one other Colorado runner coming, Mega Mel Downs, from Woodland Park.

Copper Canyon Marathon [Urique to Batopilas]

Sunday, March 23, 200:

This was a beautiful weekend in the deep canyon country of La Sierra Madre. On Saturday they came, walking into the plaza of Urique from ranchos hidden in the protective folds of La Sierra Madre and Batopilas canyon. We all hung out in a really nice hotel, Estrella Del Rio [star of the river], ate from a huge pot of pozole [corn and goat stew]. Caballo Blanco Remembrance Run

On Saturday March 27th, now nine years after the passing of Micah True (Caballo Blanco), Raramuri Corredores from Urique and Batopilas Canyons gathered together to retrace backwards from Urique the original Copper Canyon Ultra Maratón towards the Establo de Caballo Blanco in Batopilas in honor of Micah and these lands and people that he so loved. True Messages was able to host and sponsor this event via all those that support our efforts to continue to create opportunities in the Sierra Tarahumara. Athletes included legendary runners Arnulfo Quimare, Manuel Luna and Salvatore Ramirez.

Remembrance Run

As you may be aware, thanks to all those that support True Messages we had been able to secure Micah’s ‘Establo del Caballo Blanco’ (Micah’s old humble home in the Batopilas Canyon). We are excited to announce that it will soon become a museum of sorts and place to come start a run, or a hike to Urique with Arnulfo Quimare (who will be the caretaker) or a local Raramuri guide, or just a place to visit and share a Message or two.
