Caballo Blanco Remembrance Run

Micah True Caballo Blanco Remembrance Run (13).JPG

On Saturday March 27th, now nine years after the passing of Micah True (Caballo Blanco), Raramuri Corredores from Urique and Batopilas Canyons gathered together to retrace backwards from Urique the original Copper Canyon Ultra Maratón towards the Establo de Caballo Blanco in Batopilas in honor of Micah and these lands and people that he so loved. True Messages was able to host and sponsor this event via all those that support our efforts to continue to create opportunities in the Sierra Tarahumara. Athletes included legendary runners Arnulfo Quimare, Manuel Luna and Salvatore Ramirez.

After the event many runners gathered at the El Establo de Caballo Blanco for a quick picture and to see the update on Micah’s home in Batopilas. All runners received support for their efforts so that they could acquire much needed foods and pantry items to take back to their communities. We all shared many miles, many meals and many memories together. Thanks to all those that ran with us together in spirit throughout the world. You are appreciated.

Announcement for the Remembrance Run...

Thanks to all those that support True Messages we have been able to secure Micah’s ‘Establo del Caballo Blanco’ (Micah’s old humble home in the Batopilas Canyon) and it will become a museum of sorts and place to come start a run, or a hike to Urique with Arnulfo (who will be the caretaker) or Manuel or a local Raramuri guide, or just a place to visit and share a Message or two.

We are currently fixing it up and adding stairs from the street and washroom facilities and adding a mural. We also have some special plans that everyone can help with that we will share soon. In the meantime we hope you will join us for a special run on the 27th of this month.

Micah passed this day in 2012. To honor him 40 Raramuri corredores will participate in a Corre Libre Remembrance Run on the 27th. They will retrace the original course backwards from Urique and ending in Batopilas and make a visit to Micah’s home. If you are able, please join us wherever you are. If you would like also, you can join the Corre Libre run event which supports this run and the Raramuri communities. Muchas Gracias.
